Surat, August 15, 2026: AMNS International School, Hazira, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic performances and the formal inauguration of its Knowledge & Skills Exhibition, where students of Classes VIII to XII presented interdisciplinary projects connecting classroom learning with research, technology, sustainability and real-world applications.
The proceedings began with the ceremonial flag hoisting by Principal Ms. Sunita Matoo, followed by a patriotic musical presentation and an address by Ms. Rashmi Dewan, Coordinator and HOD English. Students presented traditional performances including Kathputli, Terah Taali and Ghoomar from Rajasthan, Bhangra from Punjab, and Gondhal and Lezim from Maharashtra. Hindi and English speeches focused on freedom, citizenship and the responsibilities of the younger generation.
The exhibition was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and brought together projects across Languages, Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Commerce, Computer Science and Humanities.
Class VIII, under the theme ‘Communication in a Globalised World’, traced the development of communication from graph theory, statistics and binary systems to digital networks, optical fibres, satellites and drones. Students also examined disaster communication, India's digital transition, emerging careers and sustainable fashion, while music and Sanskrit projects explored global cultures and values reflected in Krishna narratives.
Class IX focused on ‘Sustainable Future’, addressing sustainable agriculture, water and food security, hydroponics, renewable energy, green buildings, smart cities, waste management and carbon footprints. The projects linked these issues to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the Panch Mahabhuta, highlighting the relationship between environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
The Class X Skills Expo brought together technology, entrepreneurship and life skills, with projects on artificial intelligence, animation, gaming, cyber security, digital scams, NFC technology, carbon neutrality and resilient careers. Psychology projects examined contemporary concerns including childhood depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. A Medibot for medication management demonstrated the application of technology to everyday healthcare needs.
The XI–XII showcase reflected the breadth of senior-school learning. Science projects explored areas such as hydrogen energy, ultrasonic technology, acoustic levitation and mathematics in architecture, while Commerce examined global trade, contemporary geopolitical developments, India's demographic profile, medical tourism, emerging delivery models and digital businesses. Computer Science students demonstrated gesture-controlled home automation, computer vision and Arduino-based systems, including an automated flag-hoisting system and a mobile-operated saluting robot. Humanities presented ‘The Geopolitics of the Ocean’, examining maritime trade routes, strategic chokepoints, ocean-floor geography, conservation and international maritime law.
The exhibition was subsequently opened to parents, bringing together the spirit of Independence Day and the students' engagement with contemporary challenges. The celebrations highlighted the role of knowledge, creativity, innovation and responsible citizenship in shaping India's future.
