AMNS International School, in collaboration with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), Surat, proudly offered an enriching internship under the project ‘Roots to Repository’ for Class XII Humanities students. The one-month programme, conducted in April 2025, provided a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on heritage research in Suvali village, Hazira.
The internship aimed to bridge classroom learning with field-based exploration, helping students document the village’s physical, cultural, natural, and intangible heritage. It also served as a platform to build essential skills in research, analysis, and communication.
Students of Class XII Humanities carried out field visits, interacted with locals including the sarpanch, and gathered data on Suvali’s geography, economy, cultural practices, water systems, and sanitation. A key outcome of their study was a comparative insight into livelihoods during British rule and present times.
More than just a research activity, the internship deepened students’ understanding of cultural preservation, community development, and the role of youth in safeguarding heritage. AMNSIS commends the efforts of these young heritage ambassadors and reaffirms its commitment to fostering real-world learning experiences that shape socially aware, critically thinking individuals.
