AMNS International School, Surat, celebrated Independence Day with a vibrant campus-wide Knowledge Fest that ran from morning to afternoon. Students from Grades V to XII transformed classrooms, corridors, and labs into bustling galleries of ideas, performances, and projects, embodying the NEP 2020 vision of integrated and holistic learning before an enthusiastic parent community.
Senior students of Classes XI and XII showcased both depth and range. The Commerce stream unpacked hedge funds and hype markets, traced how influencer marketing reshapes consumer behaviour, and mapped the fast-growing sports economy. Humanities students presented a thoughtful model of Surat’s city planning, drawing on regional planning principles and historical insights from major cities in India and abroad. Meanwhile, a Psychology–Biology collaboration drew steady crowds with an epigenetics showcase, explaining how gene expression and behavioural patterns can be shaped across generations. The exhibit sparked informed discussions with parents about everyday choices and long-term health.
The Science stream took an applied approach with Physics demonstrations on radar systems and ultrasound ranging, alongside a striking gravity-battery model for storing potential energy and converting it into electricity. Computer Science students attracted constant attention with a face-recognition prototype and a sign-language interface that translated hand shapes into on-screen text—demonstrating how computational thinking and ethics can be taught together while retaining the thrill of building something that works.
Career and life skills also took centre stage. Class X hosted a financial-literacy corner explaining budgeting and scams, while an exhibit on unconventional careers highlighted emerging fields such as neuromarketing, food styling, public policy, and game narrative design. Cybersecurity, ethical hacking, and AI awareness sessions drew teens and parents into practical conversations about the future.
Classes V to X added rigour and creativity across subjects. Mathematics showcased projects ranging from a “Superstore” model on layouts, comparative studies of Railways and Airlines, probability experiments, and multiple proofs of Pythagoras’ theorem. Science engaged visitors with working models on rainwater harvesting, air purifiers, maglev concepts, dialysis, automatic cloth dryers, and fabric removers.
Social Science explored rivers at risk, world heritage, ocean-floor mapping, and natural wonders—from India’s living root bridges to the world’s major biomes. English brought the literary world alive with scenes from Macbeth, Ruskin Bond profiles, book reviews, grammar games, plays on everyday themes, and poetry recitations. Hindi and Sanskrit flourished through debate, satire, recitation, and themed corners like Hindi Jharokha.
Clear cross-disciplinary integration stood out. In Class VII, music students composed and performed songs on ocean-floor dynamics in collaboration with Social Science, Math, and Science. Class IX created an integrated overview of Metallurgy and Glass Industries, with Art students producing creative glass paintings while Science and Social Science students explained blast furnaces, traced historical references to metallurgy, and staged a skit on pollution caused by metallurgical industries.
Parents praised the students’ confidence, clarity, and ownership of learning. Principal Ms. Sunita Matoo described the event as “a living classroom,” thanking teachers, students, and parents for building it together, and noting that the spirit of NEP 2020—holistic, collaborative, and real-world learning—was visible in every corner.
AMNSIS demonstrated that Independence Day is not only about honouring history but also about preparing the next generation to think critically, act responsibly, and innovate with courage.
