Class XII Humanities students of AMNS International School presented their Digital Heritage Archive of the Tapi Estuarine Ecosystem on 03 August 2026, following a month-long field internship conducted from 03 June to 04 July 2026 in association with INTACH, Surat Chapter.
Students Sana Hingad and Manya Bhartia explored Dabhari Beach, Tena Creek, the Bhata Tributary, and Gavier Lake, studying estuarine dynamics, mangroves, and urban wetlands through first-hand field research. Their findings were documented using SW Maps for GPS mapping, field diaries, and environmental poetry, culminating in a multi-temporal digital heritage archive.
The presentation was attended by Ar. Falguni Desai and Ar. Gnanesh Lekhadia of INTACH Surat, along with Principal Ms. Sunita Matoo and HOD Social Science Ms. Jayashree Gopalakrishnan. The students and coordinating educators, Ms. Jayashree Gopalakrishnan and Mr. Somnath Mukherjee, were recognised for their contribution, with completion certificates presented by Ar. Falguni Desai, Convenor, INTACH Surat.
The project brought geography beyond textbooks, enabling students to document Surat’s ecological heritage through observation, research, and digital mapping.
